Company
by Chris Andrew

Philadelphia, Pennsylvannia

Company, as facing—
larceny in it’s grievance—
confronting the ignorance of a table without chairs
or the translation of illustrated books.

The fairness of far away,
lifting clouds and mist,
squinting through the weather and seeing each other, facing
(this is the future).

Company, a cooperative, the collaborating minds and hearts
of stretching limits and celebrating (mourning) the stars.

Company, as facing, considers the politics of living,
the spell of aging,
and the bombastic advent of hearing
and listening
and feeling.

The ignorance…
the ignorance of a table without chairs,
cursing stars
and failing the bright air of snugs.

Company is a long time coming,
cradling purpose in the cogs of our own invention,
telling stories for the sake of long histories
and making (makers)
taking mighty leaps that mark stubs, spots.

Company, facing, and hard of disappearing—
a sharing of spirit that can, in fact,
tire of its own grievance.
